How we choose

We work on a research-and-synthesis model, with no hands-on testing. We compare the official manufacturer specs, read buyer reviews on Amazon.eg, and check current prices in Egypt at publication. For microwaves we focus on three things: capacity in litres against your household size, wattage and heating speed, and the type and controls (solo or grill, mechanical or digital) against the price difference. We also check what each listing states about warranty. Our full method is on the how we choose page.

If you are set on one brand, we have a page for each: Fresh microwaves and Tornado microwaves for local value, Jac microwaves for the lowest price per litre, and Samsung microwaves and LG microwaves for the global names. Compare inside the brand first, then decide.

Best overall: LG MH8265DIS

This model tops our list because it puts everything in one unit: a 42L capacity that’s the biggest on the list and takes party trays, 1,200W with Smart Inverter tech that heats faster and more evenly than conventional operation, and a built-in grill that browns chicken and gratins instead of just silent heating. An international warranty is noted on the product page. It is the most-reviewed model among our picks, with 723 ratings; that is what buyers report, not a measured result. The trade-offs: one of the highest prices on the list and a large unit that needs generous counter space. If you want one microwave that settles the question for years, this is it.

Premium stainless: Sharp R-77AT(ST)

The Sharp R-77AT(ST) is a premium stainless-steel option: 34L, 1,100W, and combination operation with a grill for browning. It averages 4.3 from 111 ratings and costs ≈ 9,411. Most Sharp models on Amazon.eg currently show no listed price from a main seller, so this is the one Sharp model we can honestly price. Note that the listing does not clarify what local warranty is included, so ask the seller about warranty coverage before buying. Choose it when the stainless finish, grill, and medium-large capacity matter more than the LG’s greater capacity and inverter.

Best-value solo: Tornado TM-25MS

If your use is reheating, warming, and defrosting with no extras, the Tornado TM-25MS gives you 25L and 900W with simple mechanical dials that stand up to daily use, from a widely available local brand. Its 4.5 average from 242 ratings is among the highest on the entire list. Its downsides: it costs more than mechanical models of the same size like the Fresh FMW-25MC-SW, and there’s no display or auto menus. Pick it if you want a simple solo with one of the highest averages here and you’re happy to pay for the Tornado name.

See the Tornado TM-25MS price on Amazon ↗

Historical 20L reference: Fresh FMW-20MC-B

The historical FMW-20MC-B listing describes a 20L solo microwave with 700W output and mechanical controls. Those specifications can help explain the compact format, but its old amount is excluded from current budget recommendations. Check your plate size and the current seller’s terms rather than assuming the old Fresh-versus-Jac price gap still applies.

Check this listing’s availability and seller terms on Amazon.eg ↗

Historical 20L reference: Jac NGW-2002

NGW-2002 remains a historical 20L comparison, with its purchase recommendation paused. Its old price and dated rating record cannot establish today’s cheapest purchase. For a current Jac choice, compare the offered models’ cavity dimensions, controls and delivered totals. Continue with best Jac microwaves.

Check this listing’s availability and seller terms on Amazon.eg ↗

Cheapest 25L mechanical: Fresh FMW-25MC-SW

This is the smart jump out of the budget class: for a limited step over the 20L models you get a full 25L and 900W, a difference you feel on family-size dishes and heating speed. This model carries the bestseller badge in its class on the local store with over 100 bought last month, a real demand signal even though its published rating count is still very small. Its controls are simple mechanical dials with no display or digital timer. If you want the most practical capacity for the least money, this is the strongest offer in the middle.

See the Fresh FMW-25MC-SW price on Amazon ↗

Digital 25L: Fresh FMW-25kc-BW

The Fresh digital 25L was about 5,261 EGP against about 4,499 EGP for the mechanical 25L on September 26, 2026: a 762 EGP item-price difference. Compare the controls you will actually use. Digital controls alone do not establish better heating.

See the Fresh FMW-25kc-BW price on Amazon ↗

Currently unavailable brand-name 23L: Samsung 23L solo

This was the mid-size choice if a global name puts you at ease: dual dial controls with an easy-to-read LED display, a clean white finish that suits light kitchens, and 61 ratings averaging 4.4. But its featured offer disappeared from the listing on 8 August 2026, and it was still gone when we re-checked on 11 August 2026, so we no longer treat it as an available pick, and the July reference price of ≈ 6,709 is a reference number rather than a buying price. Even if stock returns, remember its specs (23L and 800W) sit below local models that cost less, like the Fresh 25L, so you’re paying the brand difference, not a spec difference. For the brand’s models that are actually available, see our best Samsung microwaves.

The featured offer was unavailable at the last update.

Big-size value: Fresh FMW-36KC-B

The Fresh FMW-36KC-B is back on sale at ≈ 6,931, with a featured offer sold by a third party and fulfilled by Amazon.eg when we checked on 25 September 2026. It offers 36L, 1,000W and digital controls, the lowest-cost route to big capacity among our picks. Measure the counter space before buying. For the rest of the range, see our best Fresh microwaves.

Large premium solo: Samsung 40L solo

Samsung solo 40L was about 11,148 EGP on September 26, 2026. Fresh solo 36L was about 6,931 EGP, a 4,217 EGP item-price difference. The capacities and controls differ, so check your dishes and the functions you need before paying the premium; we have no common heating test that establishes a performance advantage.

See the Samsung 40L price on Amazon ↗

Mid-range grill: Kenwood 25L grill

Kenwood 25L grill was about 7,800 EGP against Tornado solo 25L at about 6,639 EGP: a 1,161 EGP item-price difference on September 26, 2026. That compares two different models, not the isolated cost of adding a grill. Check usable dish space and the cooking functions before paying it.

See the Kenwood 25L grill price on Amazon ↗

Large grill: Samsung MG40

Samsung MG40DG5525AGSG 40L grill was about 11,686 EGP, compared with LG MH8265DIS 42L at about 10,600 EGP: roughly 1,086 EGP more before delivery. Both listings state international warranties. Compare the exact cavity, controls and seller terms; the price gap and rating count do not establish a performance advantage.

See the Samsung MG40 price on Amazon ↗

Bottom line

Compare LG MH8265DIS when you need its capacity and grill, Tornado TM-25MS for a solo, or Fresh FMW-25MC-SW for the lower current card price. Sharp R-77AT(ST) and Fresh FMW-36KC-B remain larger options on their own dated cards. Fresh 20L and Jac 20L recommendations are paused because their listings have other sellers but no main offer; Samsung 23L also has no main offer. Choose by usable space, functions and the delivered offer. Continue with microwave prices, how to choose a microwave, solo vs grill microwave, microwaves in Egypt, how we choose.

Frequently asked questions

How many litres should my microwave be?

Capacity is the first call. 20L covers one or two people and normal plates, 25L is the most popular size for a small family and takes a wider dish, and 23L sits between them. 36L to 42L suits big families and whole trays. Keep in mind that a bigger capacity means a bigger unit outside, so measure your counter spot before you buy.

Solo or grill?

A solo microwave heats, warms, and defrosts, and that covers most daily use. A grill model adds a top heating element that browns the surface, so chicken, toast, and gratins pick up colour and crunch instead of just silent heating. If your use is reheating food, warming milk, and defrosting, save your money and get a good solo. If you want browning without firing up the big oven, the grill earns its keep. We break the comparison down in our solo vs grill article.

Mechanical or digital?

Mechanical means turning dials: simpler, cheaper, with fewer parts, so it usually breaks down less, and it suits anyone who wants heating with zero thinking. Digital means a display and buttons: more precise timing and ready-made auto menus, with a more modern look in the kitchen. Both heat just as well, so it comes down to your taste in controls and the price gap.

What does the wattage actually change?

Wattage is heating speed. 700W models heat a bit slower and need extra seconds on every run, while the 900W to 1,200W tier is faster and more even, especially with larger portions. The difference won't change your life on a mug of milk, but it shows on big dishes and defrosting. As a rule, bigger capacities need higher wattage to heat evenly.

Do microwaves use a lot of electricity?

The draw while running isn't small (700W to 1,200W depending on the model), but it runs for just a few minutes at a time, so the impact on your bill stays limited in normal use. For heating small dishes it's practically cheaper than firing up the big oven and heating the whole cavity for one plate.
