If your room feels hot and sticky, the important purchase decision comes before the brand: do you need compressor cooling, or are you looking at a fan that cools through evaporation? Getting that distinction right can save you from spending on an appliance that cannot do the job you had in mind.
Our September 26 Dubai check found the Hisense portable AC at about 794 AED, Gree at about 1,851 AED, and a new Midea evaporative cooler at about 399 AED. Pro Breeze remained unavailable and keeps its historical card.
A portable AC and an evaporative cooler solve different problems
Hisense and Gree are compressor appliances. They need a suitable exhaust route, and their capacity must match the room’s cooling requirement. The BTU number alone cannot settle that: room size, sun exposure and insulation affect the decision.
Midea and the Pro Breeze reference cool through evaporation. Passing air through wet material adds moisture; US Department of Energy guidance describes this approach as suited to arid conditions. An evaporative cooler is therefore a poor substitute when you need refrigerated cooling in an already humid room. Follow its ventilation and water-tank instructions.

Hisense: the lower-priced compressor option here
The Hisense listing specifies a rotary compressor and 12,000 BTU. It costs less than the Gree in this checked shortlist, making it the first offer we would examine when that capacity and its installation requirements fit.
The checked seller was Keep Home. Confirm who handles warranty claims before buying. A listing offering a paid protection plan does not, by itself, establish that manufacturer cover is absent. Ask for model-specific noise data and match its capacity to the room.

Gree: pay more only for a requirement you have checked
The Gree Cmatic-S18C1 listing specifies 18,000 BTU and advertised a five-year warranty. The selected offer at this check was sold by Amazon.ae. The warranty headline does not establish which parts, labor or service visits are included, so obtain the terms for that exact offer.
The higher listed capacity may be useful where a room assessment calls for it. It does not prove that this is the best model for every larger room, and paying more will not solve a window or exhaust arrangement that does not fit.
